Victor Clyde Campbell, MD

Victor Clyde Campbell, MD, 87, husband of the late Virginia Gail Woodbury Campbell, passed away on August 16, 2025. Born in Pinellas County, Clearwater, Florida, March 24, 1938, to the late Weldon Elrod and Ellen Catherine Pinder Campbell. Dr. Campbell was an Officer and Major in the U.S. Air Force having served in the Philippines as Orthopedic Surgeon during the Vietnam War at Clark Hospital Base. He was an Officer, MD Participant in Operation Homecoming, and Orthopedic Surgeon for U.S. POWS, in the Philippines during the Vietnam War. Dr. Campbell was a graduate of Hepzibah High School, Hepzibah, Georgia, a graduate of Wofford College, Spartanburg, South Carolina, where he earned his Bachelor of Science, Pre-Med, and was a member of the football team, and a graduate and MD of Orthopedic Surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, South Carolina. He taught Physics and Chemistry at Avondale High School, Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Campbell served his residency at Macon Hospital, Macon, Georgia, Shriner’s Hospitals for Crippled Children, Greenville, South Carolina, and Greenville General Hospital, Greenville, South Carolina. He was the Owner and Founder of Mountain View Orthopedics, Greer, South Carolina, Staff Orthopedic Surgeon, Greenville Hospital System, Greenville, South Carolina and Allen Bennett Hospital, Chief of Staff (now Prisma Health System). Dr. Campbell was the Orthopedic MD consultant for New Horizon’s Family Health, Greer and North Hills Medical Center, Greenville as well as Sports Medicine MD at Blue Ridge High School Athletics and North Greenville University Athletics. Dr. Campbell was the Owner and Operator of Log Cabin Farm, where he raised Registered Polled Herefords and Belgian Brabant Horses and hosted with his beloved wife Gail, Olde Tyme Farm Day. He was a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, South Carolina Orthopedic Surgeon Association, South Carolina Polled Hereford Association, South Carolina Cattleman’s Association, and Western North Carolina Wagon Train Association. He served as the Roper Mountain Science Center Pioneer Day Event Presenter and Demonstrator, was a Greenville County Schools FFA volunteer and Contributor, and a volunteer for Greer Community Ministries. Dr. Campbell was a Football Inductee to the Hepzibah High School Athletics Hall of Fame. He was of the Christian faith, and a dedicated member of Mount Lebanon Baptist Church and the Men’s Sunday School Class. Dr. Vic Campbell was a dedicated husband and father, adored and treasured his family, and enjoyed all things to the utmost in life! God and family was the center of his life! Surviving are his three children, Matthew Campbell, Sherry Campbell, and Travis Campbell; six grandchildren, A.J. Arrowood (Emily), Nate Campbell, Kaitie Campbell, Kenzie Campbell, Jessica Henderson, and Rainey Campbell; four great-grandchildren, Avayah Marie Campbell, Aeralie Jane Campbell, Rhett Jameson Arrowood, and Lila Kay Arrowood; and a sister-in-law, Sharon Campbell. He was predeceased by a brother, Gary Campbell. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Mount Lebanon Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Mark Smith and Rev. Ted Conwell.
