Ronald Woodside Stephens

November 12, 1934 - January 21, 2022

Ronald Woodside Stephens, 87, husband of the late Betty Wade Stephens, passed away January 21,2022 at the Windsor House of Greenville. A native of Laurens County, son of the late Thomas Rufus and Ila Owens Stephens, he was a retired home builder, a member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church and US Navy veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Stephens served on mission construction teams building schools, churches and orphanages in Brazil. Ronald and his wife, Betty loved serving the Lord through the mission teams. Ronald loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His nicknames and song snippets will be fondly remembered. Surviving are two sons, Ronald “Skipper” Stephens (Tina) and Alan “Scott” Stephens (Lori) all of Greer; one daughter, Angella Smith (Billy) of Greer; one brother, Charles Stephens of Greer; eight grandchildren, Tray Stephens, Leah & Jake Hagood, Hunter Smith, Kyle & Clair Smith, Cameron Stephens, Madison Stephens, Kendall Stephens, and Wesleigh Stephens; and three great-grandchildren, Isaac, Kaleb and Melody. He was also predeceased by four brothers, Rev. Paul Stephens, Robert W. Stephens, Gene Stephens, and James Stephens; and six sisters, Mary Stephens Edwards, Sara Tollison, Helen Howard, Rachel Burns, Jeanette Reeves, and Alice Elrod. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at Brushy Creek Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Ralph Carter. Private interment will follow. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. Tuesday at the church prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Samaritan’s Purse, P.O.
