Marie S. Gambrell

January 12, 1953 - June 16, 2022

Marie Self Gambrell, 69, passed away June 16, 2022. A native of Hickory, North Carolina, a daughter of Doris Helms Self of Hickory, North Carolina, and the late Clemmie Thomas Self, she was a retired educator with Greenville County School District having taught for over thirty-five years and was a member of Greer First Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband, Danny Carlos Gambrell of the home; one son, Danny Scott Gambrell (Raven) of Columbia; one daughter, Carrie G. Liberty (Mike) of Greer; one sister, Amy Gail Self (Lou) of Hawaii; and three grandchildren, Sally Gambrell, Jake Gambrell, and Zoey Liberty. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 20, 2022, at The Wood Mortuary Chapel, conducted by Dr. Doug Mize and Mrs. Dottie Bryson. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens. Honorary escort will be the Paul Rogers Sunday School Class and the Truth Seekers Sunday School Class. Visitation will be held 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. Monday at the mortuary prior to the service.
