John Mitchell Simmons, 82, husband of the late Barbara Ann Massey Simmons, passed away March 10, 2022. A native of Greer, son of the late Richard Nathaniel and Ella Mae Smith Simmons, he was an independent auto dealer, a Hejaz Shriner, member of the Greenville Shrine Club, and of the Baptist faith. John lived his life to the fullest. He loved his family, friends and always helping others in need. Surviving are two daughters, Debbie Simmons Edwards (Phil) of Florence and Karen Simmons Blevins (Greg) of Gray Court; one brother, Alvin Wayne Simmons (Janice) of Greenville; one sister, Betty Sue Bradley (Wayne) of Powdersville; four grandchildren, Billy Jones (Jamie), Sam Davis, Derek Simmons, and April Gibson; three great-grandchildren, Carson Jones, Christian Jones, and Nathan Davis; many nieces and nephews; and his cherished fiancée, Bonnie Hunsinger of Powdersville. He was predeceased also by two sons, John Mitchell “Mickey” Simmons, II and William Michael Simmons; three brothers, Leroy Simmons, Jimmy Simmons, and Carl Simmons; and three sisters, Mary Thompkins, Sarah Arms, and Evelyn Simmons. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 19, 2022, at The Wood Mortuary, conducted by Rev. Keith Kelly.
