Jackie Moore

June 5, 1932 - February 16, 2022

Jaqueline “Jackie” Sewell Moore, 89, loving wife of 60 years to the late Raymond Earl Moore and mother of three children, passed away February 16, 2022. A native of Singer, LA, born June 5, 1932, to the late John F. and Elsie Floy Sharp Sewell, she received her Home Economics degree from Baylor College in Waco, Texas. Mrs. Moore and her husband married on January 30, 1954, and raised one son, Jeffery H. (Jeff) and two daughters, Laura T. (Tracy Frick) and Merrideth L. (Hale). Jackie had a passion for reading, painting, and gardening. Mrs. Moore shared her artistic talent and taught painting lessons over many years in various locations as well as being a Master Gardener (Spartanburg County) and enjoyed the beauty of flowers around her home. She served as President of the Middle Tyger Library Board and was instrumental in the fundraising, building of the new library and remained active in Friends of the Spartanburg County Public Libraries. Jackie loved to bird watch and provided a space fondly know as the “Bird Buffet”. She was known for her superb culinary skills, quick wit, infectious smile, and her kind compassionate spirit. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Laura (Tracy) and Donald Frick of Columbia; Merrideth and Raymond Hale of Charlotte, NC; one son, and daughter-in-law, Jeffery, and Laurie Moore of Duncan; four grandchildren, Todd Frick (Jill), Allison Horne (David), Austin Frick and Eddie Hale; three great-grandchildren, Jax, Peyton and Madi and a very special family friend, Andi Hale of Fayetteville, GA. A graveside service will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Wood Memorial Park conducted by Pastor Brent Dehlbom. The family will be at the home. Memorials may be made to Middle Tyger Library, 170 Grove Road #1724, Lyman, SC 29365. Online condolences may be made to www.thewoodmortuary.com.
