J.C. Sweet

Heading: J.C. Sweet Dateline: Greer The family invites you to join us in a time of worship and praise to our Lord Jesus Christ as we celebrate the life and home going of J.C. Sweet. His home going celebration will be Monday, January 2, 2017 at Grace United Methodist Church, 627 Taylor Rd., Greer, S.C. Visitation will be held 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. J.C. was a sinner, saved by grace, through faith in Jesus Christ. Because he trusted Jesus Christ as his Savior he is experiencing home – Heaven! The Bible says, “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” 2 Corinthians 2:9 J.C. lived 93 years and his life touched many, especially his family. His family loved him deeply. He was the son of George Rector and Sadie Lou Bell Simpson Sweet. J.C. met the love of his life, Ruth Bradley in Startex, S.C. On Christmas Eve of 2016 they celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary. What a beautiful and powerful example of love and commitment! J.C. had two sons, Mike (Becky) and Greg (Lisa) who were blessed to have such a great Dad. He deeply loved his four grandchildren, Brandi Van Patton (Matthew), Jeffrey (Patty), Neal (Jessica), and Nathan (Kelli). He was very proud of his ten great-grandchildren, Ellaree Grace Van Patton, Kees Van Patton, Margaret Gates Van Patton, Connor Sweet, Asa Sweet, Tripp Sweet, Logan Sweet, Anna Grace Sweet, Sophia Rose Sweet (due in February) and Jayson Sweet. He has a sister, Mary Ann Bruce (Jack) and was predeceased by sisters, Vivian Bruce and Mildred Goff, and brother, Conway Sweet. He loved life, being on the go, sports, and going out to eat, especially the Clock Restaurant. He was a WWII US Army Veteran serving on Okinawa. He loved his church family at Grace United Methodist Church. The men of Grace United Methodist Church and neighbors Jim Arron and Wilson Childers serve as honorary pallbearers. The pallbearers are Neal Sweet, Nathan Sweet, Jeffery Sweet, Matthew Van Patton, Leslie Fiske, and Ronnie James.
