Fred Doss

June 18, 1941 - February 3, 2022

James Fredrick “Fred” Doss, 80, passed away peacefully February 3, 2022, surrounded by those who loved him most. A native of Danville, Virginia, son of the late Robert Owen and Beulah Vivian George Doss, he was a retired commercial truck driver. Fred was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. Affectionately known by his grandchildren as “Pops”, he was always sharing stories and bragging on them, as they were his pride and joy. He would give you the shirt off his back as well as his opinion on just about anything. He will be dearly missed, but never forgotten. Go rest high on that mountain. We love you! Surviving are his wife, Patricia Reid Doss of the home; two daughters, Tammy Doss Mathena (Steven) of Greer and Karen Doss Sapp (Jimmy) of Fountain Inn; one sister, Joan Moore (Raymond) of Danville, Virginia; five grandchildren, Logan Sapp (Gin), Russell Sapp (Bri), Daniel Sapp, Matthew Mathena (Taylor) and Sarah Mathena (Bailey); one great-grandson, Easton Sapp; two great-grandchildren on the way; and several nieces and nephews, who all loved him endlessly. He was also predeceased by two brothers, Bob and Bernie Doss. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 13, 2022, at Disciples United Methodist Church.
