Debbie DeShields Thurston, 63, passed away May 3, 2022. A native of Greenville County; a daughter of the late Garvin and Jean Cassell DeShields; she was a graduate of Riverside High School, Spartanburg Technical College and attended the University of South Carolina, and was an employee of CompX for 29 years. She taught kindergarten for several years, loved football, basketball and making crafts, and was an avid Tennessee Volunteers fan. Surviving are her son, Sean Thurston of Duncan and a grandson, Joshua Thurston of Duncan. A graveside service will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Hillcrest Memory Gardens conducted by Rev. Jeff Shirley. A visitation will be held 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2022, at The Wood Mortuary, Inc. Online condolences may be made at www.thewoodmortuary.com.
