Brooks Ray Hammett

Brooks Ray Hammett, 75, passed away December 21, 2021. A native of Spartanburg County, son of the late Sparty Hammett, Sr. and Leona Bowers Hammett, he was a Purple Heart Medal recipient of the Vietnam War while serving in the United States Navy, a truck driver, and a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Carmen Melton (Mike) of Lyman and Brookie Barron of Lyman; one sister, Joyce Skinner of Greenville; six grandchildren, Brennan, Asia, Malibu, Albany, Serenity and Memorie; and two great-grandchildren, London and Princeton. He also leaves behind his lifelong love, Annette Guy. He was predeceased by two brothers, Sparty Hammett, Jr. and Horace Hammett and one sister, Rachel Watford. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Thursday, December 23, 2021, at Friendship Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Steve Durham. Burial will follow in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held 1:30-2:45 PM Thursday, December 23, 2021, at Friendship Baptist Church. The family will be at the home of the daughter Brookie Barron.
