Benjamin Ben Paget

August 17, 1936 - May 18, 2022

Benjamin L. Paget (Ben), 85, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2022. Born in Greer, South Carolina, he was the son of J. Suddath Paget, Sr. and Ruth Cunningham Paget. He was a proud graduate of Furman University. Ben was the third-generation owner of Paget Chevrolet in Greer, South Carolina until sold in 1988. Since that time, he and the love of his life for 65 years, Nancee, enjoyed their retirement years. They lived and raised their family of three girls in Greer, South Carolina. They also lived in Garden City Beach, South Carolina and later lived in Lexington, South Carolina near family. Ben previously served on the City of Greer Public Works Commission, Board of Directors for the Bank of Greer, and United Carolina Bank. He was a member of Greer First Baptist Church, Belin United Methodist Church in Murrells Inlet, SC, and St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lexington, South Carolina. He is survived by his wife, Nancee; his brother, John Paget, Sr. (Patsy) of Marietta, Georgia; two daughters, Susan Paget Amick, (Brian) of Lexington, South Carolina and Patty Paget Joye, (Chris), and son-in-law Steve Joye of Columbia, South Carolina, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Ben was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy Paget Joye; brother, James S. Paget, Jr., and sister, Jessie Paget Lamb. The family will hold a graveside celebration of life service at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 5, 2022, conducted by Mrs. Dottie Bryson at Mountain View Cemetery, 173 Drace Avenue, Greer, South Carolina. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 213 St. John’s Church Road Lexington, SC 29072.
