Alvin Stephen Johnson

December 16, 1953 - March 22, 2022

Alvin Stephen (Steve) Johnson, 68, passed away on March 22, 2022, at his home in Duncan, SC after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia. A graduate of Blue Ridge High School (1972) and Clemson University (1976), Steve spent most of his professional career in the automotive textile industry at JP Stevens, where he served as plant manager at the plant in Port Huron, MI and the Parker plant in Greenville, SC. Steve was a lover of all things golf and Clemson football and enjoyed both in his free time. He could break the ice in any conversation with his witty one-liners and corny “dad jokes,” and embodied that same sense of humor until the end. Surviving are his daughter, Laura Keen (Travis) of Greer, his mother, Vernie Langford, of Greer, his sister, Becky Pickett (Jim) of Greer, his step-sister, Diane Hucks (Clennon) of Greenville, and his companion, Shannon Kennemore, of Duncan. Steve is predeceased by his father, James Louis Johnson, his stepfather, John Harvey Langford, and his brother, David Johnson. A memorial service will be held 4:00 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2022, at The Wood Mortuary conducted by Rev. Chris Harrison. Visitation will be held 2:30-3:45 p.m. Saturday at The Wood Mortuary.
