Marjorie Eckerson

Marjorie Ethel Dixon Eckerson, 98, wife of the late Earl E. Eckerson, entered her heavenly home on August 31, 2026. She was born in New York state on August 21st, 1928. She was the daughter of the late Schuyler and Florence Dixon and was predeceased by two sisters, Jane Shirk and Dorothea Siff. Surviving are three children, Becky Bates (Bobby) of Greer, South Carolina, Susan Campbell (JP) of Lillington, North Carolina, and Joel Eckerson of Las Vegas, Nevada; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Marjorie was a high school graduate of Red Hook Central School in Red Hook, NY. She attended Hope College in Holland, MI with an emphasis on Math and music. Following that, she worked for several years at General Electric in Schenectady, NY prior to her marriage to Earl. After marriage, she made supporting Earls’ pastoral ministry a priority she was a frugal housewife and mother. She used her skills of gardening, canning and freezing, to preserve the harvests for future use and would make yearly trips to local fruit farms to collect and make homemade jams and applesauce and pies. She also used her knowledge of sewing to make clothing and home décor items for her family and home. She also spent many years using, promoting and selling various health supplements including products by Amway, Shaklee and Successful Living. This played a significant role in her excellent health and long life. She was proud of her Scottish heritage and was a member of Clan Keith. She loved bagpipe music and several family vacations included visits to Scottish Highland festivals, both in the US and Canada. In addition to these interests and pursuits, she was an avid reader. She enjoyed works of fiction as well as books to encourage and help her grow in her Christian faith. At her memorial service visitation, we will be sharing with those in attendance, some of her personal collection to take, enjoy and remember her by. That service will take place at Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church on September 26, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. with visitation directly following. In addition to sharing her books, we will also be having some sweet treats to enjoy. We ask that attendees come dressed in fall colors or their Scottish tartan, if possible. In honor of her lifelong support of missions, we ask that any memorial gifts be made to Reformed Evangelistic Fellowship to the account of June Gallman, who has ministered in Costa Rica for 20+ years and is a longtime friend of the family.
