Loretta Aldridge

Loretta Joy Matthews Aldridge, 77, went to be with her Saviour on April 16, 2025. A native of Denver, Colorado, daughter of the late Albert and Martha Barber Matthews, and Frieda Katherine “Cathy” Bryant, she was a wife, mom, Grammy, sister and precious friend. She spent her life taking care of her family, keeping her house tidy and orderly, serving in her churches, Beth Eden Baptist Church in Denver, Colorado, and Hampton Park Baptist Church in Greenville, South Carolina and spending time with her friends. Loretta will be remembered for her smile, laugh, and her kindness to others. She loved her God and spent many hours serving in various ways to others in her churches. Loretta loved Christmas and decorating her house for all the holidays and seasons. She loved to be on the go shopping, visiting others and going on small adventures. In these last years, where going out was impaired, she spent her days shopping online, watching the Hallmark channel, and reading various things on her electronic devices. While she could no longer get out and go to church, she faithfully watched the services from home and kept up with the goings on of the church. Surviving are her faithful husband of 59 years, James Edouard Aldridge; two devoted daughters, Melody Joy Aldridge and Wendy Renee Aldridge both of Taylors, SC; treasured sister, Beverly Ellyson of Ardmore, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Jessie (Stephen) Hayden, Ben (Savannah) Griffith, and Zona Griffith; great-grandsons, Colton Griffith and Bentley McCall; sister-in-law, Debora Moser; nephew, John Pletcher; niece, Cindy Pletcher Faulkenberry; niece, Rachel Ellyson; great-nephews, Rhett Ellyson and Trent Ellyson; and other precious family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Abie and Jeannie Romero; her nephew, Larry Ellyson; and many other dear family members and friends. Graveside services will be held May 2, 2025, 1:00 PM at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery conducted by Pastor Paul Bixby.
