Larry Babb

Larry Eugene Babb, 84, beloved husband of Jenel Goldstrom Babb, entered eternity on June 13, 2025, to be forevermore with his Lord & Savior. Larry was born in a taxi upon its arrival at St. Francis Hospital on August 5, 1940. He was in a hurry to enter this world and kept that driven spirit throughout his life. He adored nature and being outdoors. His first recreational love was fishing, followed by hunting and gardening, but his greatest love was for his family. He was a devoted father and loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Larry had a protective, unconditionally loving spirit for his family and an even greater love for Jesus Christ. He joined the United States Navy in 1958 and served his country as a fire control technician on the USS William V. Pratt, a Farragut-class destroyer, and also performed ceremonial guard duties until he was honorably discharged in 1962, receiving the Good Conduct Medal. After leaving the military and returning to his place of birth, he began a career as a sales representative at Sears Roebuck & Co. After taking early retirement with Sears, he worked at Greenville Aluminum Products until he was 82. Larry loved people and made friends easily. God gave him the gift of a genuine nature, which warmed hearts and built trust. This contributed to his love for his job. Larry was a native of Greenville County, SC, and son of the late Claude William Babb and Frances Kathleen White Babb Williams. He was a member of Second Presbyterian Church in Greenville. Surviving are two daughters, Terry Babb Bagwell of Piedmont, SC, and Rachel Babb of Greer, SC; one son, Andrew Babb, of Greenville, SC; two grandchildren, Brandon Coker (Chrystal) and Reid Bagwell; three great grandchildren, Ryleigh Coker, Colton Coker, and Caden Coker. A daughter, Angie Babb Coker, also predeceased him. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at the Second Presbyterian Church in Greenville, conducted by Dr. Richard Phillips.
