Kenneth LeGrand Crook

Kenneth LeGrand Crook, 87, passed away Veteran’s Day, November 11, 2021. A native of Lyman, South Carolina, he was born in 1934 to the late Rev. Cullen Brunson and Merle Breakfield Crook. He spent his early childhood at Southern Baptist Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. His family then moved to Greer, when his father was called as pastor of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. LeGrand was a graduate of Greer High School and upon graduation, entered the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany. After his military service, he returned to Greer and married the former Corrie Greer, in August 1957. He attended North Greenville Junior College and Furman University, where he graduated in 1961 with a degree in business. Mr. Crook then began his lifelong career with John D. Hollingsworth On Wheels, in Greenville, S.C. His career centered on sales and service of customized textile machinery to industries throughout the world. A lifelong Baptist, LeGrand was an active member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He was a true servant, peace maker, and friend and was especially close to the gentlemen in his Men’s Sunday School Class. He enjoyed activities with his family and loved to be in a boat, fishing on the water. Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Corrie Greer Crook; two daughters, Kimberly Lee (Rick) of Rock Hill, South Carolina; Janice “Jan” Brown (Jerry) of Rock Hill; son, Brian LeGrand Crook (Tama) of Greer. LeGrand loved and was very proud of his nine grandchildren: Chelsea Lee Eichorn (Joe) of Rock Hill; Meredith Lee Guedry (Ryan) of Augusta, Georgia; Richard Vincent Lee of Rock Hill; Austin LeGrand Lee of Columbus, Georgia; Katherine Brown Pierce (Richmond); Caroline Greer Brown, John Walker Brown all of Rock Hill; Parker LeGrand Crook and Payton Elizabeth Crook of Greer. He delighted in his great-grandchildren: Madison Greer Eichorn and Grant Dillon Eichorn, of Rock Hill, Charlotte Adele Lee of Columbus, Olivia Camille Pierce of Rock Hill and William Lee Guedry of Augusta. Mr. Crook’s service will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, November 14, 2021, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Greer, South Carolina, conducted by Dr. Drew Hines and Rev. Todd Johnson.
