Heading: Kathryn M. Aughtry Dateline: Greer Devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and great-grandmother Kathryn Millen Aughtry passed away October 18, 2010. A world traveler, Kathryn made her home in Greer where she passed in the presence of many family and friends. A native of Gaston County, North Carolina, daughter of the late James Claude and Eliza Hudspeth Millen, she was a homemaker and a member of Greer First Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Suzanne Aughtry Whitten (Jim) of Greer and Rebeckah Lynn Aughtry of Gastonia, North Carolina; two sons, Joseph Scott Aughtry (Beckie) and William Jeffrey Aughtry both of Greer; a sister, Sue Millen Weaver (Jay) of Kings Mountain, North Carolina; and grandchildren, Chelle Kelaher (John) of Greenville, Kristin Whitten Johnson (Kevin) of Memphis, Tennessee, Ann Whitten Huey of Travelers Rest, Lynn Whitten Garrick (Chris) of Greer, Kathryn J. Whittemore (George White), Sarah A. Whittemore, and Kelley A. Whittemore all of Gastonia, North Carolina, James Scott Aughtry (Katie) of Greer, William Matthew Aughtry (Kathryn Justice) of Little Rock, Arkansas, Joseph Samuel Aughtry and Molly Grace Roxanna Aughtry both of Greer; and great-grandchildren, Finley Michelle Kelaher and Glenn Augusta Kelaher both of Greenville, James Reese Whitten of Travelers Rest, Payton Alexis Robbins of Gastonia, North Carolina, and Faith Eliza Johnson of Memphis, Tennessee. Mrs. Aughtry was predeceased by her husband, James “J.P.” Price Aughtry, Jr., a son, James Michael Aughtry, and a brother, Tommie Pugh Millen. Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m. Thursday at The Wood Mortuary, conducted by Dr. Dan Ray and Mr. Matt Aughtry. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Jim Whitten, Scott Aughtry, Matt Aughtry, Sam Aughtry, George White, John Kelaher, Kevin Johnson, Chris Garrick, and Joey Deyoung. Honorary escort will be the Senior Adult Class. Visitation will be held 2:00-4:00 p.m. Thursday at The Wood Mortuary. The family is at the home of son, Joe Aughtry, 1471 McElhaney Road, Greer, SC 29651.
