James "Jimmy" Stroud, Jr.

James “Jimmy” McDuffie Stroud, Jr., 45, passed away November 8, 2023. A native of Greenville, son of James “Jim” McDuffie Stroud III and Sandra Dianne Hart Stroud of Taylors, he was the assistant manager of Tractor Supply and of the Christian faith. Jimmy was a man of many talents. He could fix anything whether it was something mechanical, electrical, or technology related. If you asked him for his help, he never said no and always got it done. That applied at home and work. He loved spending time outdoors. He loved fishing and hunting, but he especially loved the times he spent with his Dad, traveling to film TV shows. He loved playing with his nieces and nephews and making them laugh. Jimmy loved Christmas and the yearly tradition of helping his Dad put wreaths and lights on the house. He always helped set up the tree for his mother to decorate. He loved his family and was always there to help his parents no matter what they need. He spent a lot of time at home and would always take the time to talk with his sister Angie and they would laugh and reminisce about their childhood. He had a heart for helping others. As an example, he was driving to Greenville one day and noticed a jogger who had fell and hit his head. He pulled over to assist the injured man with CPR, waiting with him until EMS arrived. That is the man Jimmy was. He didn’t change. His heart was pure and he got enjoyment from helping others. He was mild, soft spoken, and polite. His customers and coworkers from Tractor Supply in Travelers Rest will tell you that Jimmy was always giving 110% and ready to help. It’s what he did and the man he was. His customers were his friends. He enjoyed going to work every day because he said the people he worked with were his family too. Jimmy’s heart was full of love for his family but there was a special place in his heart for his fiancé Glenna Marie Smith. She made him happy and brought out a side of Jimmy rarely seen by others. He cared for Glenna so much and always made sure she was taken care of, and that she got home from work each day. He loved her very much. She was the love of his life. Also surviving are his son, Tyler; fiancé, Glenna Smith of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; two sisters, Kimberley Stroud of Inman and Angela Stroud of Taylors; nieces, Alyssa and Breyannah; nephews, Jordan, Bentlee, and Landon. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Claude and Dorothy Hart, and his paternal grandparents, James M. and Adith Stroud. A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Locust Hill Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Jason Farr. The family is at their respective homes.
