James Albert "Mac" Maxwell Jr.

James Albert “Mac” Maxwell, Jr., 75, of Simpsonville, South Carolina, son of the late James Albert Maxwell, Sr. and Dorothy Fowler Maxwell, passed away December 14, 2023. James is survived by his wife, Vickie Hart Maxwell of the home; sons, Clark (Carrie) Maxwell and Jake (Anna) Maxwell; two grandchildren, Luke and Sarah Maxwell; grand dogs, Molly and Chubs and Charlotte; and one grand cat, Lucky. He also has another grandchild on the way! James was a generous man, wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law, and uncle. There is nothing he loved more than helping his boys and grandkids. They were truly the apple of his eye, and nothing ever made him beam more than talking to or about them. He was so proud of them and their accomplishments. He LOVED all sports, but mainly Clemson football and NASCAR racing. “Mac” was a veteran of the US Army Reserves and worked almost 50 years for AT&T and loved his work and the guys he worked with. His family knew every pole, every splice he made and who he was with, or manhole he went in across Greenville County. He was a faithful employee and had a tremendous work ethic. That trait he passed down to his boys. He was so proud of that. Like him, they were at work way before start time, and gave 110% no matter what. His favorite saying was “if you on time, you’re late!” James was a Christian and a faithful member of Cross Roads Baptist Church his whole life. He faithfully served as church treasurer for about 45 years. He dearly loved the members of the Stewardship Sunday School Class and enjoyed attending the “HUH” coffee club of gentlemen at McDonalds on Fridays. If he could pass along anything to you, he would tell you to be sure your relationship with the Lord was right. His family would like to thank the staff and doctors at Bon Secours Hospital Downtown for their loving care for him. Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 18, 2023, at Cross Roads Baptist Church Worship Center. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Honorary escort will be the Stewardship Sunday School Class. Visitation will be held 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. Monday at the church prior to the service. The family is at the home.
