George Marvin Snediker

George Snediker, 85 of Greer, South Carolina passed away peacefully, July 10, 2020, at his home in Greer, South Carolina with his wife and family by his side. He was born February 24, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan to the late George and Gwendolyn Snediker. He married the only women he ever loved, Almeda Storey, on February 19th, 1955 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Utica, Michigan. They were happily married for 65 years. George began his career at the Sterling Heights Missile Plant in Sterling Heights, Michigan where he built the Atlas Missiles and the Apollo Rockets that sent our first astronauts to the moon. He then worked for Chrysler Tank Arsenal in Warren, Michigan which became General Dynamics where they built the M1/A1 Abrams Tank for the US Military and he retired on September 30th, 1983 after 30 years of service. George was a talented wood worker and he loved antique and hot rod cars and later in life enjoyed adult coloring which gave him much peace and pleasure. He is survived by his wife, Almeda and 5 children, Sherrie Davey and her husband Jim, George Snediker, Karen Weis and her husband Tim, Diane Knight and her husband Joe, and Scott Snediker and his wife Meredeth. George also was a devoted grandfather to his 11 grandchildren and their spouses, Jim Davey and Kasey, Danielle Davey and Jeff, Matthew and Lauren Snediker, Katie Snediker and Jake, Benjamin and Aimee Knight, Hannah and Michael Polisei, Abigail Knight and Michael, Miriam Knight and Zack and Samuel Knight, Skylar and Brayln and Scott, Jr. Snediker. He also had 4 great-grandchilren, Ashley, Joe, Jack and Atlas. He is also survived by his sister, Joyce Wolff, many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Joanne Inglett and Sharon Eist. A funeral mass will be celebrated at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church located at 901 River Road, Greer, South Carolina on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. Father Jaime Gonzalez will officiate. Inurnment will follow in Wood Memorial Park in Greer, South Carolina. A celebration of life will be at the home of Tim and Karen Weise at 1:00 p.m. in Greer, South Carolina.
