Frances Hadden McLain

Name: Frances Hadden McLain Dateline: Spartanburg Frances Hadden McLain, 73, went to her Heavenly home on June 3, 2011 at 7:45 PM. She was the daughter of the late Mike D. Hadden and the late Iris Cook Hadden. A native of Lyman, she was retired from Springs Industries and a longtime member of Canaan Baptist Church. She courageously fought a hard battle against vascular dementia and bladder cancer since 2005. Her witty and sweet nature will be sorely missed by her family and friends, as she never met a stranger and she loved everybody. She was devastated by the death of her beloved poodle, Pierre, in 2010, which in turn started her decline with the vascular dementia, then a fractured leg and emergency surgery due to a fall in September 2010 started her steady decline. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband for 43 years, Arthur M. McLain, Jr. (Jim), her loving son, Joe C. Schultz, Jr. and wife, Judy, of Inman, her loving and devoted daughter, Donna Fortner and husband, Clarence of Spartanburg, two step-sons, Arthur McLain, III (Sonny) and wife, Sandra of Martinsburg, WV, James McLain (Jimmy) of Spartanburg and numerous step-grandchildren. Also, one brother, Olin and Margie Hadden, one sister, Maxine Lindsey, a special niece, Cathy Cofield of Simpsonville and her two beloved poodles, SassyPants and Buddy. She was predeceased by two brothers, two sisters, one step-grandson, JJ and one grand-dog, PJ. The family is at the home of her daughter, Donna Fortner, 107 Story Street, Spartanburg.29301. Services will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at The Wood Mortuary conducted by the Rev. Joel Gardner. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Monday at the Mortuary.
