Evelyn Ward Johnson

Evelyn Ward Johnson, 83, widow of Duncan Charles Johnson, entered her heavenly home on March 15, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was a native of Taylors, South Carolina, and the daughter of the late Jesse Frank and Edith Stewart Ward. Surviving are a son, Charles Keith Johnson of Cowpens; a daughter, Julia Johnson Riddle (John) of Taylors; a brother, Frank Carlos Ward (Pat) of Greer; a sister, Geneva Ward Jones of Greer; grandchildren, Jason Johnson, Justin Johnson (Michelle), Joshua Hemphill (Cora), Taylor Johnson (Cat), Haley Smith (Devin), Audra Bettinelli (Jerome), Laura Gramling (Phillip); great-grandchildren, Hannah Johnson, Clara Hemphill, Riley Johnson, Charlie Hemphill, Marley Smith, Jennings (Jett) Johnson, Miller Kate Smith, Luca Bettinelli and Lily Bettinelli; daughter-in-law, Becky Johnson; and close family friends, Debra McGregor (Jeff) and Lewis Hendrix (Shancie). Evelyn was predeceased by a son, Frank Craig Johnson, and a daughter, Teresa Johnson Hendrix. Evelyn had a vibrant and outgoing personality, and was extremely dedicated to her family. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, baking, boating, and skiing at the lake with family and friends, and playing in softball and bowling leagues during her working career. She was a retired administrative assistant for Safety Kleen; a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church conducted by Elder Phil Beckwith and Dr. Tommy Harvey. The family will be available for visitation immediately following the service at the church.
