Donald Duck McDaniel

Donald (“Duck”) McDaniel, a man who truly never met a stranger, passed away on April 21, 2026, at the age of 70. He will be remembered for his larger-than-life personality, generous spirit, and the way he made everyone feel like family from the moment they met him. Whether through a firm handshake, a story that left you laughing, or one of his famous big bear hugs, he had a gift for making people feel welcomed, valued and loved. Duck was a man of many talents. He was an exceptional cook who could turn any meal into something special - effortlessly creating dishes that tasted like they belonged in a fine restaurant, right down to his tasty deserts. His garden was the pride of his home and the envy of all who saw it, overflowing with the fruits of his dedication and care. He found great joy in sharing his gardening knowledge as well as in sharing his harvest, often canning and giving it away to friends, family and neighbors. A gifted artist and skilled craftsman, Duck brought creativity and care into everything he made. But, more than anything, he will be remembered as a devoted friend and a loving family man. He cherished his family and friends deeply and made sure they always knew how much they meant to him. He was a natural storyteller, an entertainer at heart, and someone whose humor and bellowing laugh could brighten any room. His presence brought warmth, laughter, and a sense of belonging to all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and love that will continue to live on in the hearts and lives he touched. Duck is survived by Donna, his loving wife of 36 years, his son, Shannon (Shauna) McDaniel, of Tamms, Illinois. He was preceded in death by son, Nicholas (Amber) Lipscomb, of Jacksonville, Florida. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Tryston and Raylynn McDaniel, Shawn, Mason and Jackson Lipscomb, his sister Terri (Steve) Clark, as well as numerous other family members. There will be a Celebration of Life on May 2, 2026, at 2:00pm at Wood Mortuary, Inc., 300 West Poinsett Street, Greer, SC 29650 as well as a Celebration of Life for Duck’s Florida based family and friends on May 16, 2026, at 4:00pm at Lake Shore Bar, 2420 Lake Shore Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32210.
