David Carl Stalvey

David Carl Stalvey, 48, passed away January 12, 2023. A native of Pensacola, Florida, the son of Carl Ronald and Mary Ramona Barnett Stalvey, he was an employee of International Vitamin Corporation. David was a light that was granted to this world. His radiance shined from him and touched those across so many bridges it is impossible to track them all. He helped people around him, around them and those echoes will continue his story. His interests were varied, but heartfelt and inspiring to others. He didn’t know all the answers, but few realized that as he excelled at finding them. He exuded joy for life, living and exploring new things. He loved Japan and Star Wars in equal measure because both spoke to his soul. Whether it was helping others with the baffling effect of ongoing technology or coming up with the phrase needed to solve life’s puzzle for the day, he could be counted on. Practical solutions that no one else would see were obvious to him, and eagerly shared. He didn’t have a mean bone in his body, if he did once, it was long since burned out by his radiance before I met him. He traveled the world as a dependent spouse. That is harder than being active duty as active duty was gone and he kept everything going without backup. When the ship came home and he’d moved twice, organizing everything so that I could come home to a HOME, even though I hadn’t been there before. He was a rock for everyone around him. It wasn’t just me. He loved to explore and researching to find the best explorations was a joy to him. He was never satisfied with letting the adventure find him, he wanted to find it first and thus wrangle the best experience possible from it. He always claimed he had a Japanese soul, as he adored that country too. Living there for 4 years fueled it. It didn’t extinguish that desire in the least. He returned twice to appease that love and thoroughly enjoyed the extra months spent wandering the streets and soaking up the culture. He even picked up a bit of the language needed and enjoyed sharing it too. He loved to make things. He loved the whole process, from designing them on the computer, to printing on the best 3d printer for the part. His household duty was cleaning the dining room and the living room as that is where he did the sanding and assembly needed. The dining table was an occasional visitor, it was usually tasked as a workbench instead. It helped in many projects, more than any other member of the household. The droids he built made friends around the state, and more from around the world as they awed people through numerous Dragoncons. He loved driving them through the crowds for others to discover the wonder they brought on sight. Star Wars was brought to earth to light up more imaginations with every round. He loved to see the kids light up with delight and wonder at the creations he brought to life for them. His depiction of Hagrid did the same. The world of Harry Potter came alive for many, thanks to it. He loved animals. Our residence is currently rented from 4 cats. They are all very demanding, but even they gave up trying to get his attention when he was working on his projects unless they were willing to be covered in dust from sanding. Despite what others think, only 1 of them is grey, and another is grey patched. Therefore, the dust covered cats were merely proof of their devotion to him. Few animals will ignore a sander going full blast, just to get another chin scratch. He was worth it, and the additional baths it required all around. He was just that special. Cats are very discerning, and they were unanimous in that opinion. His life was filled with possibilities that he pursued avidly. His spirit will continue to do so. Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, Shawna Dawn Eagle Stalvey of the home; one son, Flint Draco Stalvey of Greer; one brother, Andrew Ronald Stalvey of Lake City, Florida; and one sister, Krystal Marie Henson of Lake City, Florida. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 20, 2023, at The Wood Mortuary Chapel, conducted by Rev. Keith Kelly. The family is at the home.
