Charles Gene Moser

Charles “Gene” Moser, 82, born on October 14, 1939, passed from death to everlasting life on August 16, 2022. Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Jones Moser, of 59 years; parents, Charlie & Eliza Moser; and his brother, Jimmy Moser. Gene is survived by his sons, Shane Moser of Greer, SC and Greg Moser (Allison) of Roanoke, VA. He is also survived by his four grandchildren: Ian (Kerstin), Dustyn (fiancée, Taylor Caldwell), Hunter, and Danielle Moser (fiancé, Josiah Somers) in addition to two great-grandchildren: Samuel & Olive Moser. Also left to cherish his memory is his sister, Linda McClure of Marion, VA as well as other extended family members. Originally from Chilhowie, VA, Gene served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1968, serving as a Staff Sergeant. He earned the highest marksmanship award, qualifying at Expert level. Gene spent most of his adult life in Salem, VA where he served as President of the United Food & Commercial Workers (Local 278) for 29 years. He worked tirelessly on behalf of those he represented. After retiring in 1995, Gene relocated to Greer, SC, where he drove a school bus part-time for Greenville County School System. Gene was a member of Washington Baptist Church in Greer, SC. He spent much of his life serving the Lord in various ways: Deacon, teaching Sunday School, visiting the homebound, discipling new believers in Christ, and investing in people for the advancement of the Gospel. To sum up Gene’s life in one word would be “servant”. He sought to faithfully serve His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ; his wife throughout many years of health challenges; and those he encountered on a daily basis throughout his lifetime. A celebration of his life will be held at Green Ridge Baptist Church in Roanoke, VA on Saturday, August 20, at Noon with his son, the Rev. Greg Moser, presiding.
