Mary L. Bisbee

Mary Louise Bisbee (nee Helling) passed at her daughter, Deborah and son-in-law, Richard Lemke’s residence in Greer, SC on October 12. She was born on May 8, 1927 to Rudolph William and Anna Helling in Union MO. She was the fifth born of six siblings, Blanche, Herbert, Allen, Mabel and Pat. She attended and graduated from Union HS in 1945. She worked at the local shoe factory as an accounts payable/receivables secretary, where she met William Bisbee, Sr., the love of her life. He preceded her in death in 2019: they were married for 72 years. Upon retiring they moved to Westphalia, MO and purchased a farm. In 1987 they moved to Jefferson City. Mary was an extremely talented women. She sang beautifully, often at weddings, funerals and in the church choir. She was an incredible seamstress, making clothes for herself, her children and grandchildren, and made incredible costumes for them for operettas and plays. She also created and sewed altar cloths and banners for St. John’s Lutheran Church in Schubert where she and Bill were active members. She was a fantastic cook, often creating artistic cakes. She will be best remembered for her art. She sketched family profiles in charcoal, and painted over 30 gorgeous paintings in oil, watercolor and acrylic. She loved gardening and fishing. She is survived by Deborah (Bisbee), her daughter, and Richard Lemke of Greer SC, William Bisbee, Jr., her son of Kansas City, MO, her grandson Stefan Langston (Gina), LaGrange, GA, granddaughter Yara (Mike) Butler, Chappels, SC, granddaughter Grace(Danny) Miller, Denver, CO and Amy (Joe) Morales, Shawnee, KS., her great-grandchildren, Elijah and Lukas Langston and Evelyn Miller. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, siblings and Mary Anne Bisbee, wife of William, Jr. Services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, October 28, 2023, at St. John’s Lutheran Church 4409 St. Johns Rd, Jefferson City, MO. Burial following in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held 10:00-11:00 am Saturday, October 28, 2023, at the church. A luncheon will be served at the church following burial.
