Heading: Lula Mae Jones Dateline: Greer Lula Mae Bramlett Jones, 85, born August 23, 1922 met her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 8:34 p.m., March 10, 2008. Her parents were the late Melvis Mitchell Bramlett and Bessie Leona Sandlin Bramlett of Fairview Community in Greer. Ms. Jones was a member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church in Taylors and has lived at Oakmont Nursing Center in Berea for the past four years following a serious illness. Ms. Jones was an employee of the J.P. Stevens Greer Mill Plant for years as the floor lady in the cloth room and she retired and became a beautician for many years working out of a shop at her home. Lula Mae Jones has been a Christian for as long as her children can remember, she read the Bible from front to back to them while they were growing up, which is something they will always hold dear to their heart and remember forever. She was a precious lady that loved her family, enjoyed family gatherings, and baked dozens of pecan and sweet potato pies for friends and neighbors at holidays before she became ill, she was a sophisticated lady that enjoyed pretty clothes and walking out the door in style without a hair out of place. She will be dearly missed by her sons and daughter and all of her grandchildren, and her sister. On March 10, 2008, 8:34 p.m. she lifted her eyes toward heaven and an angel of the Lord took her by the hand to go and meet the Savior. Goodbye mother, we all love you dearly and will miss you and that sweet smile so much. She is also predeceased by her husband Joe Oscar Jones of Greer when he left this world to be with his Lord and Savior September 1986 after a long illness and a brother the late John Thomas Bramlett that died in December 1945 in Germany during World War II. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Dan and Barbara Jones of Greer and David and Dawn Jones of Memphis, Tennessee; a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda Jones and Jim Wall of Greenville; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jack and Margaret Jones of Greer; a brother-in-law, Odell Howard of Taylors; a sister, Myrtle Dix Harkins of Greenville; eight grandchildren, Stacy and Billy Haguewood of Boling Springs, Heather Jones of Memphis, Tennessee, Shane and Jill Wall of Greenville, Travis and Brandy Wall of Taylors, Derek and Kim Jones of Williamston, Traci and Barry Newkirk of Taylors; Brian and Kim Shelton of Georgia, Rhonda Wall Sanders of Taylors; and seventeen great-grandchildren, Spencer, Jackson, and El Haguewood, Logan, Caelen, Hayden, and Hunter Wall, Nicholas and Makenzie Jones, Caroline and Savannah Newkirk, Carson, Chase, and Cade Shelton, Alex, Collin, and Addison Sanders; and lots of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Wood Mortuary, conducted by Dr. Drew Hines. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Milford Howard, Ronnie Howard, Ralph Howard, Odell Howard, Mike Howard, Wayne Brayton, and Chuck Major. Visitation will be held 7:00-8:30 p.m. Wednesday and 1:00-2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Wood Mortuary. The family is at the home of Brenda and Jim Wall, 123 Andover Road, Greenville.
