Bruce "COACH" Clark

Alton Bruce (COACH) Clark passed away December 21, 2021, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Born April 4, 1960, in Burlington, NC, Bruce was the son of Curtis Clark, Jr. and the late Mary Lou Frazier Clark of Mebane, NC. After graduating from Eastern Alamance High School, Bruce graduated from Wingate University. He taught History and coached baseball and football at North Gaston High School and Kings Mountain High School, and ended his coaching career at Boiling Springs High School, where he served as head football coach and Athletic Director. Bruce had the gift of teaching and coaching. He could motivate his students and athletes to always achieve their best. After leaving a legendary coaching legacy, Bruce then followed his dream and opened Game Day BBQ in Duncan, SC, where he received great satisfaction from serving the Duncan and surrounding communities, and from catering for countless high schools and colleges. He made a connection with each of his customers and was lovingly called COACH by everyone who was served at Game Day BBQ. Bruce is survived by his father, Curtis Clark, Jr; his loving wife, Pamela Clark of Chesnee, SC and his sons, Joshua Clark of Chesnee, SC, and Justin Clark of Dallas, NC. He is also survived by his sister, Vicky Pruitt of Winston Salem, NC, his mother-in-law, Barb Pastor of Brentwood, CA, his brother-in-law Rick (Patty) Pastor of College Station, Texas, and nephews, Phillip and Michael Pruitt. In addition to his mother, he was predeceased by his brother-in-law, John Pruitt of Winston Salem, NC. Coach Clark lived his life just as he taught the thousands of young people to do so; to discover your purpose in life never wavering from it and pursuing it with all you have, to be a person of faith, and to always help those in need. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Spartanburg, 250 East Main Street, Spartanburg SC 29306. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Southeastern Children’s Home, P. O. Box 339, Duncan SC 29334. Wood Mortuary of Greer, SC, is in charge of arrangements.
