Herbert (Herb) Alton Bowers, 89, of 521 St. Mark Road, died March 15, 2009 at McCall Hospice House.
A native of Greenville County, son of the late Dexter Levi and Margaret Reid Bowers, he was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, a retired employee of Hoechst Celanese, and a member of Lee Road Baptist Church and V.F.W.
Surviving is his wife, Mary Lou Barbare Bowers of the home and a sister, Nancy B. (Ida) Howard of Greer.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Wood Mortuary, conducted by Rev. Todd Stewart. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held 12:30-2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Wood Mortuary.
The family is at the home.
